SEND Teaching Assistant

About the role

Prospero Teaching is partnering with a Special Needs School in Stockport that supports pupils aged 4‑19. As a SEND Teaching Assistant you will work one‑to‑one and in small groups, helping pupils engage in learning, regulate emotions and receive personal care.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils individually and in small groups to facilitate learning and emotional regulation.
• Provide personal care and assist with challenging or high‑risk behaviours using positive behaviour strategies.
• Build strong, professional relationships with pupils and collaborate with staff, SEN professionals and external agencies.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with severe autism, complex learning needs or sensory impairments.
• Proven ability to provide personal care and manage challenging behaviour calmly and resiliently.
• Strong communication, flexibility, and a commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
