SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School ASD Unit

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a well‑resourced primary school in Islington, supporting pupils within a specialist Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) provision. The role is full‑time and offers an immediate start, with the possibility of continuing into the new academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with autism.
• Assist with learning activities, communication development, and social skills.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider support team.
• Maintain and follow the unit’s structured routines and behaviour plans.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have ASD or other SEND needs, either in an educational or care setting.
• Calm, patient and proactive attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Passion for making a difference in SEND education.
