SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Temporary/Full‑time)

About the role

Join a vibrant primary school in Croydon that is dedicated to inclusive education. As a SEND Teaching Assistant you will support teachers in delivering differentiated lessons and help pupils with additional learning needs achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
• Prepare resources, set up learning activities and equipment.
• Provide small‑group and one‑to‑one interventions for academic and social progress.
• Support pupils with EHCPs and other additional needs.
• Supervise students during lessons, playtime, transitions and group work.
• Help with assessments, observations and accurate record‑keeping.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in an educational setting (desirable).
• Strong understanding of child development and teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Good organisational abilities and initiative.

Required skills

• First Aid certification (preferred).
• Additional training in SEN, safeguarding or behaviour support (preferred).
