SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools, South West London

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in South West London on a full‑time, long‑term basis. You will become an integral member of the school’s support team, working consistently with the same pupils and staff to help children with special educational needs achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small‑group support to pupils throughout the school day.
• Assist pupils during classroom lessons to facilitate engagement with the curriculum.
• Use visual aids, Makaton, PECS or other communication strategies as required.
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.
• Deliver targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher or SENDCO.
• Support personal, social and emotional development and sensory activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other support staff to implement individual learning plans.

Required profile

• Passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
• Experience or strong interest in working with pupils who have ASD, SLCN, MLD/SLD, SEMH, ADHD, physical or complex learning needs.
• Ability to work full‑time within one school and build lasting relationships with pupils and staff.
• Willingness to follow guidance from teachers, SENDCOs and therapists.
