SEND Teaching Assistant – Rayleigh (Flexible Hours)

About the role

We are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1‑to‑1 support for children and young people with complex needs in Rayleigh. The role is term‑time only, offering up to 30 flexible hours per week and an hourly rate of £18‑£23.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside a tutor to deliver face‑to‑face 2:1 support for learners from Early Years to KS4.
• Assist in preparing learning materials for core subjects (Maths, English, Science) and SEND‑specific resources.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies and provide a therapeutic, adaptable approach.
• Help produce daily and weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals such as SALT, OT, or social workers.
• Record attendance using the company’s attendance software.
• Support learners transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• HLTA certification preferred, or at least two years of relevant UK experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable and proactive attitude.

Required skills

• Experience using attendance or reporting software.
