SEND Teaching Assistant – Runcorn (Special Educational Needs)

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team in Runcorn. You will work closely with the class teacher to provide tailored academic and emotional support for pupils with special educational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver individualized or small‑group support to pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, and sensory processing needs.
- Assist the teacher in implementing strategies outlined in each pupil’s EHCP.
- Create a low‑stimulus, calming classroom environment to help pupils regulate emotions.
- Monitor pupil progress and report observations to the SENCO.
Required profile
- Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent proven experience.
- Previous experience supporting children or young adults with SEND in school, residential care, or youth work settings.
- Calm, patient demeanor with strong communication and active‑listening abilities.
