SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

About the role

We are partnering with a welcoming secondary school in Tameside to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. The role starts on 22 April 2025 and provides full‑time support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them achieve academic and social progress.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND in mainstream lessons and small‑group settings.
• Assist in delivering individual education plans (IEPs) and education, health and care plans (EHCPs).
• Provide targeted 1:1 interventions and encourage independence.
• Help the class teacher manage behaviour and maintain an inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor and report pupil progress to the SENCO and teaching staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in schools or educational settings.
• Understanding of SEND needs such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties.
• Calm, patient and resilient attitude when working with young people.
• Relevant TA qualification is desirable, or equivalent experience.
• Valid Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
