SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Milton Keynes)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a Good‑rated secondary school in Milton Keynes. The role focuses on one‑to‑one support for pupils with complex special educational needs, particularly those with ASD and ADHD. You will work closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 assistance to pupils with complex SEND, addressing communication and sensory needs.
• Support the emotional, physical and social development of students throughout the school day.
• Prepare classrooms before lessons and tidy up afterwards.
• Assist teachers in preparing and adapting learning materials.
• Supervise and organise pupils during projects, sporting activities and other school events.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑age pupils with SEND, especially ASD and ADHD.
• Strong ability to communicate clearly with teachers and students.
• Active listening and a compassionate approach to child development.
• Understanding of behaviour management and the ability to create an encouraging learning environment.
