SEND Teaching Assistant – September Start

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join an inspirational SEN school in Alnwick from September 2026. You will work alongside class teachers to support pupils aged 2‑19 with a range of special educational needs, helping them achieve progress and develop confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD, SEMH and other SEN.
• Assist pupils who are non‑verbal or require personal care, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
• Develop an understanding of each pupil’s learning style and adapt support accordingly.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to deliver consistent, high‑quality assistance.

Required profile

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or childcare‑related qualification (desired).
• Experience working with children in UK schools.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Resilient, proactive and positive attitude.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one) and two recent professional references.

• Daily rate between £88‑115.
