SEND Teaching Assistant – Support Children with Special Needs

About the role

Reed Education is seeking compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join their network and access teaching assistant opportunities in schools across Crawley. The role involves supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) to achieve their learning goals in an inclusive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in delivering differentiated lessons for pupils with SEN.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to reinforce learning objectives.
• Help create and maintain a safe, supportive, and accessible learning space.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to monitor student progress.
• Record observations and contribute to individual education plans (IEPs).

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children who have special educational needs.
• Relevant qualification such as NVQ, CACHE, a degree, or equivalent in SEN support or education.
• Patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners.
• Strong communication skills for liaising with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN strategies and classroom support techniques.
