SEND Teaching Assistant – Support Children with Special Needs

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant SEND school in Barking & Dagenham. You will work with children aged 4‑16 who have a range of complex needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their personal goals.
Key responsibilities
- Support SEND students in accessing lessons and activities.
- Provide personal care and assistance as required.
- Supervise students inside and outside the classroom, including break times, lunches, trips and extracurricular events.
- Apply positive behaviour management strategies to ensure safety and wellbeing.
- Collaborate closely with class teachers and other professionals to implement Education Health Care Plans.
Required profile
- A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
- Experience working with SEND or vulnerable groups in schools, healthcare, social care or community settings.
- Strong emotional intelligence, empathy and a positive mindset.
Required skills
- Positive mindset and enthusiasm for SEND work.
- Empathy and good emotional intelligence.
- Ability to follow and implement care plans.
