SEND Teaching Assistant - Sutton

About the role

We are looking for compassionate SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs in mainstream primary schools across Sutton. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one tailored support for an assigned pupil.
• Support children with ASD, ADHD, emotional dysregulation and other SEND needs.
• Assist with learning, emotional regulation and social development.
• Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to implement EHCP targets and support plans.
• Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs.
• Promote a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 3 desirable).
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in SEND or inclusion.
• Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs in a mainstream primary setting.
• Patient, empathetic and committed to pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Availability Monday‑Friday (part‑time roles still require weekday availability).
