SEND Tutor (1:1 Support) – Burnham-on-Crouch

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Tutor to provide 1:1 support to children and young people with complex needs in Burnham‑on‑Crouch. The role is part‑time, up to 30 hours per week during term time, and involves delivering core subjects and tailored SEND content in a face‑to‑face setting.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one instruction in Maths, English, Science or SEND‑specific curricula for learners from Early Years to KS4.
• Implement positive behaviour‑management strategies and maintain a therapeutic learning environment.
• Conduct baseline academic and emotional assessments to shape personalised interventions.
• Prepare daily and weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals such as SALT, OT or social workers.
• Record attendance using the provider’s attendance software.
• Support learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings when appropriate.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND, SEMH, autism, or related needs.
• Background in education, youth work or therapeutic settings; QTS or HLTA preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum two years of relevant UK experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, compassionate and reliable.

Required skills

• Use of attendance‑recording software.
• Familiarity with a bespoke tutor platform for curriculum delivery.
