SEND Tutor (1:1 Support) – Hastings, East Sussex

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Tutor to provide one‑to‑one support for children and young people in Hastings who cannot access mainstream education. The role is part‑time, up to 30 hours per week, and runs during term time only.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver face‑to‑face 1:1 teaching in core subjects such as Maths, English and Science, or SEND‑specific curricula.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies and maintain a therapeutic, adaptable approach.
• Conduct baseline academic and emotional assessments to tailor support.
• Prepare daily and weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals (e.g., SALT, OT, social workers) as needed.
• Record attendance using the company’s attendance software.
• Support learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings when appropriate.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND, SEMH, autism, EBSA, SpLD or MLD.
• Background in education, youth work or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA qualification preferred, though two years of relevant UK experience without formal qualification is acceptable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable and proactive attitude.

• Experience using attendance or educational management software.
