SEND Tutor – Flexible Part‑Time Home Tuition (10‑20 hrs/week)

About the role

Academics Ltd, in partnership with Kent County Council, is seeking experienced SEND Tutors to provide one‑to‑one home tuition for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities across Kent. The role is part‑time, offering 10‑20 hours of teaching per week, and is ideal for qualified teachers or specialists who want flexible, meaningful work.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver structured 1:1 tuition in the pupil’s home, following the individual’s EHCP or care plan.
• Plan, adapt and differentiate lessons to meet specific learning goals and complex needs.
• Collaborate closely with parents, multi‑agency professionals and the council to ensure consistent progress.
• Maintain accurate progress reports in line with Kent County Council requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) – strongly preferred, or substantial experience as a SEND Tutor.
• Proven experience delivering 1:1 tuition or alternative provision for learners with SEND.
• Strong behaviour management and differentiation abilities.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Lesson planning and adaptation for autism, ADHD, SEMH, anxiety, EBSA and moderate learning difficulties.
• Effective communication with pupils, families and multi‑agency teams.
