About the role
The school is a large primary school with a specialised SEN unit for children with autism and other special educational needs. They are looking for an experienced SENCo to lead and develop the SEND provision, ensuring every pupil receives high‑quality support and can thrive academically and personally.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop the school's SEND provision, ensuring high‑quality support for pupils with autism and other SEN needs.
- Work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, families and external agencies to drive inclusive practice and monitor pupil progress.
- Ensure statutory responsibilities are met and that the SEND policy is implemented effectively across the school.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or willingness to work towards it.
- Previous experience as a SENCo or in a SEND leadership role.
- Strong understanding of autism and effective strategies to support pupils with additional needs.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
