Senior Accountant – Accountancy Practice (Brixham)

About the role

The firm is a well‑established and growing accountancy practice based in Brixham, serving a varied portfolio of clients across Devon and the South West. They are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage client relationships, prepare accounts and provide technical and advisory support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year‑end accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Produce management accounts, VAT returns and bookkeeping as required.
• Review work prepared by junior team members, offering guidance and mentoring.
• Act as the main point of contact for day‑to‑day client queries.
• Support clients with business and tax planning advice where appropriate.
• Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies on behalf of clients.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Assist partners with ad‑hoc projects and client advisory work.

Required profile

• AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part‑qualified or qualified (or qualified by experience).
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to manage workload independently while supporting junior staff.
