Senior Accountant

About the role

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the team on a permanent basis, reporting to the Director. The role is hands‑on and suitable for someone with senior‑level experience in operational finance or as a deputy to a Finance Director.

Key responsibilities

• Own management accounts, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Produce accurate, timely financial reports to support commercial decision‑making.
• Build and maintain robust financial models and analysis in Excel.
• Identify financial and operational risks and propose practical solutions.
• Support the Finance Director on strategic and commercial projects.
• Manage and develop junior finance team members.
• Liaise with budget holders and non‑finance stakeholders across the business.
• Continuously review and improve financial processes and controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience at senior accountant level (or demonstrable capability with less experience).
• Fully qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA, or close to completion.
• Proven track record of ownership, measurable achievement and progression in finance roles.
• Strong independent thinking and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with senior and non‑finance stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel, including building, auditing and interrogating complex models.

• Salary £55,000‑£60,000 per year, dependent on experience.
