Senior Accountant

About the role
Are you an experienced practice accountant looking for a role where you can take real ownership of your work, build strong client relationships and continue progressing professionally? Key responsibilities
- Preparing year‑end statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
- Producing corporation tax computations and returns.
- Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Managing bookkeeping requirements and preparing VAT returns across different schemes.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients.
- Responding to accounting and tax queries and ensuring assignments are completed accurately and on time.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
- Assisting managers with ad‑hoc client work and wider assignments.
- Maintaining consistently high standards of client service.
- Managing multiple deadlines while working with a high degree of independence.
Required profile
- AAT qualified and part‑qualified ACA or ACCA with at least two years' experience within an accountancy practice.
- Good knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102.
- Strong statutory accounts and corporation tax experience.
- Practical bookkeeping and VAT experience.
- Confidence dealing directly with clients and developing long‑term relationships.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- Strong Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
- Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, CCH or Alphatax (advantageous).
- A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- A strong team ethic with the confidence to take ownership of your workload.
- An interest in supporting and developing junior colleagues.

- £40,000 – £50,000 salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
