Senior Accountant – Practice Role

About the role

We are a dynamic accountancy firm looking for a Practice Accountant to replace a departing team member. The role is perfect for a professional with solid experience in an accountancy practice, strong client‑facing skills and confidence managing a varied portfolio of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accounts for clients across sectors such as construction, architecture, hospitality, independent businesses and sole traders.
• Handle VAT returns, bookkeeping, and journal entries.
• Draft first versions of financial statements.
• Assist with personal and corporate tax work.
• Communicate with clients by phone, email and face‑to‑face meetings.
• Support senior staff during client meetings.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice (essential).
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Confidence in direct client interactions.
• Experience with personal or corporate tax (essential).
• Formal accounting qualification is beneficial but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software.
