Senior Accounts Assistant – Full‑time (Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant to join a growing finance team in Hungerford on a full‑time, six‑month contract. The role supports the Financial Manager and Head of Finance, handling a variety of accounting tasks and offering the potential to become permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain purchase and sales ledgers.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including credit control and invoicing.
• Process purchase orders and monitor finance inboxes for accounts, credit control and PO queries.
• Resolve supplier and customer discrepancies and raise statements.
• Support GP and management reporting and handle ad‑hoc requests from senior finance staff.

Required profile

• Finance all‑rounder with proven experience in AP/AR, ledger work and bank reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently across multiple finance functions.
• Full‑time, office‑based availability (5 days a week) and a quick commute from Swindon, Newbury, Wantage or Didcot.

Required skills

• Proficient in Xero (non‑negotiable).
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP.
• Experience with credit control, purchase order processing and statement reconciliation.
• Knowledge of GP and management reporting processes.
