Senior Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established accountancy practice in Epping for a Senior Accounts Assistant. The role offers the chance to work with a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering high‑quality financial services and supporting business compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for a varied client portfolio.
• Manage bookkeeping duties accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts.
• Support clients with accounting queries and day‑to‑day financial matters.
• Assist with financial reporting and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
• Build positive professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Contribute to continuous process improvements within the practice.

Required profile

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Experience preparing statutory accounts and producing management accounts.
• Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge.
• AAT qualification, equivalent accounting qualification, or substantial qualified‑by‑experience background.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Good communication and client relationship abilities.
• Proactive and collaborative approach to work.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Microsoft Office applications.
