Senior AI Engineer (Gen AI & RAG)

About the role

Join an award‑winning B2B consultancy as a Senior AI Engineer, responsible for delivering production‑grade generative AI solutions that drive real business outcomes. You will work closely with the Director of AI and the AI Platform Engineering team to turn strategic concepts into reliable, scalable systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy production‑grade generative AI systems that operate reliably at scale.
• Implement and continuously improve Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using proprietary and domain‑specific content.
• Develop agentic, workflow‑driven AI patterns with a focus on determinism, quality and maintainability.
• Apply model adaptation techniques—including prompting, fine‑tuning, distillation—to optimise quality, latency and cost.
• Lead experimentation and evaluation, measuring correctness, faithfulness and robustness of AI outputs.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teammates.
• Collaborate with platform, product and delivery teams to accelerate AI experimentation to production deployment.
• Explore advanced retrieval approaches such as Graph‑RAG and structured knowledge representation where they add clear value.

Required profile

• Strong Python expertise for production‑grade AI development.
• Hands‑on experience with LlamaIndex, LangChain and LangGraph.
• Proven track record building Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) systems; Graph‑RAG exposure is a plus.
• Practical experience with model adaptation techniques (prompting, fine‑tuning, instruction tuning, knowledge distillation).
• Solid grounding in evaluation and experimentation methodology for generative AI, focusing on correctness, faithfulness and robustness.
• Demonstrated ownership of technical design and delivery of complex AI/ML or data‑driven systems in live production environments.
• Senior‑level engineering experience, capable of guiding teams and influencing architecture.
