About the role
Join a well‑established health research organisation and charity as a Senior Application Security Engineer. You will embed security throughout the software development lifecycle, working closely with engineering and cloud teams to build and maintain secure applications, platforms and deployment processes.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to promote secure development from the earliest stages.
- Implement and maintain application security testing solutions, enabling developers to identify and remediate risks.
- Integrate security controls throughout CI/CD pipelines and strengthen the security of GitHub Actions and similar platforms.
- Provide technical guidance on secure API design and protect externally accessible systems.
- Support Azure cloud infrastructure security, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Assist in protecting cloud‑hosted data platforms and related technologies.
- Develop and maintain security‑as‑code and policy‑as‑code using appropriate tooling.
- Automate security processes via infrastructure‑as‑code and scripting.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, security procedures and service documentation.
- Support development teams in adopting security tooling and best practices.
- Contribute to broader cyber‑security initiatives such as threat modelling and compliance activities.
Required profile
- Proven experience in senior application security roles (e.g., Senior/Application Security Engineer, Lead or Principal positions).
- Hands‑on experience with secure design, CI/CD security, cloud‑native technologies and Kubernetes.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model from a Central London office.
