Senior Assembly Technician – Quantum Lab Operations

About the role
OQC is looking for a Senior Assembly Technician to keep our quantum laboratories, cryogenic systems and workshops running safely and efficiently. You will support cutting‑edge experiments by ensuring all technical spaces are well‑maintained, compliant and ready for use.
Key responsibilities
- Organise and schedule critical laboratory equipment, including cryogenic dilution refrigerators.
- Develop, maintain and improve safe operating procedures, risk assessments and full systems of work.
- Manage specialist vendor relationships, coordinate service visits and keep compressors, chillers and oxygen‑detection systems at peak performance.
- Maintain clean, safe and fully operational cryolabs and workshops, resolving issues swiftly.
- Own health & safety documentation, incident logging and compliance with internal and external audits.
- Deliver H&S training and support teams working in highly technical environments.
- Troubleshoot and maintain equipment, providing first‑response support and escalating complex problems.
- Complete engineer work orders accurately and on time.
- Ensure labs are well‑stocked by coordinating with purchasing and performing regular stock checks.
- Assist in building and maintaining quantum computers, supporting mechanical and electrical assemblies.
Required profile
- Proven experience in technical or industrial environments, preferably in laboratory or workshop settings.
- Demonstrated ability to implement safe working practices and lead risk assessments.
- Capability to work independently across multiple labs, workshops and data‑centres.
- Leadership experience (team leading, project support or multi‑site management) is a strong plus.
