Senior Audit Advisor – Audit Assistant Manager

About the role

We are an established independent accountancy and business advisory firm seeking a Senior Audit Advisor to join our growing audit team in Bolton. You will lead audit assignments for owner‑managed businesses across multiple sectors, overseeing the process from planning to completion while mentoring junior staff and building strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead smaller audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Take responsibility for individual audit sections on larger, complex engagements.
• Prepare audit planning documentation, analytical reviews and going‑concern assessments.
• Execute complex audit areas such as stock, deferred tax and related‑party transactions.
• Prepare corporation tax computations where required.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients throughout the audit process.
• Review and guide the work of junior team members, providing constructive feedback.
• Ensure assignments are completed efficiently and within agreed timescales.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an audit‑focused role within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical audit knowledge and familiarity with current accounting standards.
• Proven ability to manage audit assignments from planning to completion.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Strong organisational abilities with attention to detail and a commercial mindset.
• Proactive attitude with a desire to improve processes and client service.
