About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Audit Manager to lead audit engagements for a diverse client portfolio in Surrey. The role combines technical audit expertise with commercial involvement, allowing you to influence client relationships, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business development.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a diverse portfolio of audit clients, from owner‑managed businesses to larger corporate groups.
- Lead the planning, execution and completion of statutory and non‑statutory audits.
- Build strong relationships with business owners, directors and key stakeholders.
- Work closely with Partners and Directors on client strategy, technical matters and commercial opportunities.
- Review financial statements prepared under UK GAAP, FRS 102 and IFRS.
- Identify audit risks and ensure assignments are delivered efficiently, on budget and in line with professional standards.
- Lead and support due‑diligence, investigations, valuations and other specialist assignments as required.
- Coach, mentor and develop junior members of the audit team.
- Drive continuous improvement across audit processes and quality standards.
- Support business development activities, including proposals and networking opportunities.
Required profile
- ACA or ACCA qualified with significant experience within an accountancy practice.
- Proven experience managing a varied portfolio of audit clients.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102 and IFRS.
- Excellent understanding of UK auditing standards and regulatory requirements.
- Outstanding communication and relationship‑management skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to identify value‑adding opportunities for clients.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring and developing audit teams.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Transaction support or corporate finance exposure is advantageous but not essential.
