Senior Automation Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join a leading biotechnology manufacturing organisation in Kent. The role involves designing, delivering and validating GMP‑compliant control systems that support critical manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and lifecycle management of PLC, SCADA and HMI solutions.
• Define system architectures and standards, ensuring traceability from user requirements through to software deployment.
• Oversee configuration, software validation and qualification activities in line with GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Manage commissioning, hand‑over and audit activities, coordinating with vendors and regulatory bodies.
• Drive automation improvement initiatives and support digital transformation and change control processes.

Required profile

• Degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation Engineering or a related science discipline.
• Proven experience in automation system design, validation and lifecycle management within pharmaceutical, biotech or other regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of GMP, data integrity and validation standards.
