Senior Autonomy Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Autonomy Engineer on the UK Engineering team, you will lead the design, development, and verification of high‑performance autonomy solutions for the defense sector. You will create perception and planning algorithms, optimise their performance, and build robust system architectures while mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Prototype, evaluate, refine and deploy state‑of‑the‑art machine‑learning algorithms for defence use cases.
• Leverage Applied Intuition products to build the software and infrastructure foundation for behaviour‑specific ML development.
• Collaborate closely with perception and planning engineers on cross‑team initiatives.
• Translate product requirements into technical solutions and maintain thorough documentation.
• Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building production software using modern software practices.
• Proven experience developing autonomous vehicle solutions for aerospace or defence.
• Hands‑on experience with the full development lifecycle of deep‑learning models.
• Strong ability to work in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment.
