Senior Azure Platform Engineer – Hybrid (Newbury)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Azure Platform Engineer to join a leading global IT consultancy supporting a tier‑1 telecommunications provider in Newbury. Working on the high‑profile “TaaZure” initiative, you will help design, build and operate reusable Azure platform capabilities using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines and FinOps practices. The role can be taken as a permanent position or a six‑month rolling contract and is hybrid (two days on‑site per week).

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement production‑ready IaC with Terraform and Terragrunt, creating modular Azure landing‑zone templates.
• Develop and maintain automated deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Integrate observability, monitoring, logging, alerting and security controls into platform assets.
• Apply FinOps principles to optimise cloud costs, tagging and right‑sizing.
• Collaborate with client engineering teams to pair‑program, document patterns and up‑skill internal staff.

Required profile

• 10+ years of hands‑on experience in IT, Cloud or DevOps engineering.
• Strong consulting mindset with excellent stakeholder management in an enterprise environment.
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver high‑quality platform solutions.

Required skills

• Azure core services (compute, networking, storage, identity, security).
• Terraform and Terragrunt.
• CI/CD tools: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions.
• Observability stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor.
• FinOps and cloud cost optimisation techniques.
