Senior Backend Engineer – C#/Java, Trading & AWS

About the role

We are seeking a senior backend engineer to join a leading financial markets technology firm in London. The role focuses on building and modernising high‑performance trading applications that serve front‑office traders in real time.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, low‑latency backend services using C# or Java.
• Develop APIs, micro‑services and cloud‑native components on AWS.
• Collaborate directly with traders, architects and principal engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to system architecture, design reviews and the full software development lifecycle.
• Modernise existing infrastructure with Docker, Kubernetes and messaging technologies such as FIX.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience in C# or Java development.
• Hands‑on experience with trading or front‑office systems.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Good grasp of software design principles and ability to work on high‑throughput, low‑latency applications.
• Desktop UI exposure is a plus.
