Senior BD Manager - Private Client & Tax

About the role

Carter Murray, a leading UK law firm, is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to join the Private Client & Tax practice. You will help shape a newly unified offering for high‑net‑worth individuals and families, driving market presence and client‑focused initiatives with autonomy.

Key responsibilities

• Unify the practice through collaborative go‑to‑market strategies aligned with senior partners.
• Develop and deliver business development plans that support firm‑wide objectives.
• Manage a BD Executive, overseeing workload planning, mentoring and career development.
• Lead the intermediaries programme, including events, intelligence gathering and referral management.
• Drive cross‑selling, enhance external profile via campaigns, content, PR and events.
• Modernise BD processes, lead directories and awards submissions, and coordinate pitches.
• Oversee budgets, report on ROI and support firm‑wide initiatives such as CRM improvements and private capital campaigns.
• Contribute to global BD strategy and lead international desks.

Required profile

• 7+ years’ experience in professional services, preferably with Private Client & Tax exposure.
• Proven line‑management experience and credibility with senior stakeholders.
• Exceptional organisational ability and capacity to juggle shifting priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strategic, creative thinker who remains calm under pressure.
• Collaborative mindset willing to support colleagues at all levels.
