Senior Biomedical Engineer – RTB & Technical Training

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Engineer to lead Return to Base (RTB) activities, refurbishment, calibration and quality assurance of critical medical equipment in Harlow. The role combines hands‑on technical work with the delivery of technical training and mentorship for engineering colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full RTB lifecycle – inspection, repair, calibration, refurbishment and redeployment of biomedical devices.
• Ensure compliance with MHRA, ISO 13485, HTM standards and internal quality procedures.
• Coordinate with hospitals, logistics teams and OEMs to optimise equipment turnaround.
• Deliver technical training, mentor engineers and maintain training records.
• Maintain CMMS asset data, tools and spare‑part inventories.
• Support preventative maintenance, quality assurance and KPI reporting.
• Analyse performance data and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of biomedical engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of UK‑based industry experience.
• HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Proven ability to train and coach technical staff.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Electrical/Electronic Engineering knowledge.
• Medical device calibration and refurbishment.
• CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) usage.
• Understanding of MHRA regulations.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485 standards.
• Knowledge of HTM guidelines.
