Senior Bridges Engineer – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Amey is seeking a Senior Bridges Engineer to join its Consulting team in Stafford. The role involves leading highway structures projects, delivering sustainable bridge solutions, and mentoring junior staff within a multidisciplinary consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead bridge and highway structure projects from quotation through design, construction, inspection and hand‑over.
• Produce technically sound engineering solutions, including calculations, drawings and documentation.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects meet budget, programme and quality targets.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technicians, reviewing their work and providing guidance.
• Support the Design Team Leader on a variety of structures schemes and contribute to continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Qualified Structural or Civil Engineer with experience in bridge design and highway structures.
• Proven ability to manage projects independently and lead a small team.
• Strong understanding of the full asset life‑cycle, from design to maintenance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams.
