Senior Building Physics Consultant

About the role

BWB Consulting is looking for a Senior Building Physics Consultant to join its award‑winning team in Leeds. You will lead the delivery of building physics and environmental performance consultancy for low‑energy, high‑performance buildings, guiding projects from early‑stage design through to final delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of building physics and environmental performance consultancy for low‑energy, high‑performance projects.
• Develop and run dynamic simulation models to assess energy use and carbon emissions.
• Perform operational energy analysis and advise on performance‑driven design strategies.
• Act as technical advisor from early‑stage design through to project delivery, ensuring compliance with energy, carbon, comfort and sustainability targets.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Degree in Building Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering building performance consultancy for commercial or residential projects.
• Strong understanding of low‑energy design principles and sustainability standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Required skills

• Dynamic simulation modelling (e.g., IES VE, EnergyPlus, TRNSYS).
• Operational energy analysis.
• Building physics and environmental performance assessment.
• Performance‑driven design strategy development.
