Senior Building Surveyor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join our national construction team. This hands‑on, onsite position will support new builds, refurbishments, defect investigations and estate improvement projects across our flexible base locations.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out detailed building fabric surveys, condition assessments and intrusive investigations.
• Produce technical reports, feasibility studies, scopes, specifications and schedules of work.
• Support fabric design development, including layouts, detailing, compliance reviews and performance standards.
• Manage building condition data, asset lifecycle assessments and investment recommendations.
• Prepare tender documentation such as specifications, Bills of Quantities and quality standards.
• Provide technical assurance on site, including inspections, compliance checks, snagging and support through defects and warranty periods.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, fire safety, access standards, planning constraints and internal governance.
• Work with CDM duty holders to manage design risks, safe construction methods and communicate residual risks.

Required profile

• Strong background in building surveying with experience in fabric assessment and defect diagnosis.
• Good knowledge of Building Regulations, fire safety, access standards and related compliance frameworks.
• Proven ability to produce scopes, specifications, drawings and other technical documents.
• Experience of CDM 2015 and construction health & safety legislation.
• Highly organised, able to juggle multiple projects while maintaining accurate records.
• Effective communicator capable of influencing stakeholders, contractors and internal partners.
• Experience in refurbishment, planned maintenance or compliance‑based projects, preferably within a construction or estates environment.
