Senior Building Surveyor

About the role

Join an independent property and construction consultancy with over 60 years of experience, delivering a mix of professional and project surveying work across South West Essex. The role offers exposure to defect analysis, dilapidations, building surveys, PPM, technical due diligence and refurbishment projects, while supporting client relationships and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent.
• Undertake building surveys, PPM surveys and technical due diligence.
• Diagnose building defects and prepare technical reports.
• Manage dilapidations instructions.
• Prepare specifications for maintenance, refurbishment and minor new‑build works.
• Monitor construction works for quality and progress.
• Provide site supervision where required.
• Develop client relationships and generate repeat business.
• Mentor and support junior surveyors.

Required profile

• Technically capable, commercially aware and able to manage clients, projects and competing priorities with limited supervision.
• MRICS qualification (or working towards chartership).
• Building Surveying degree or relevant property qualification.
• Strong professional and project experience.
• Knowledge of Contract Administration and/or Employer's Agent duties.
• Confident client‑facing and communication skills.
• Experience supporting or developing junior colleagues.
• Proactive approach to client relationships and new business.
