Senior Business Development Executive – Freight Forwarding

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Business Development Executive to join our fast‑paced freight forwarding team in St Albans. The role is primarily phone‑based, focusing on generating new business through high‑volume outbound outreach and converting prospects into active clients.

Key responsibilities

• Make a high volume of outbound cold calls to prospective customers.
• Navigate gatekeepers and engage decision‑makers.
• Develop new business opportunities and follow up with written proposals.
• Handle objections professionally and build relationships with both new and existing clients.
• Manage and grow client accounts once they are active.
• Meet sales targets and maintain disciplined activity levels.
• Participate in sales meetings and support marketing initiatives as needed.

Required profile

• Confident telephone communicator with a strong work ethic.
• Resilient, tenacious and able to thrive in a target‑driven environment.
• Organised and capable of managing workload effectively.
• Previous B2B sales experience is beneficial but not mandatory; hospitality or other customer‑facing backgrounds are welcome.
