Senior Business Development Manager – Intellectual Property

About the role

This 14‑month fixed‑term position supports the Intellectual Property practice of a leading international law firm during a period of transformation. Reporting to senior partners, you will shape business development strategy, drive revenue growth and lead client development initiatives across a fast‑moving, complex practice.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute BD strategy, planning and delivery for the IP group.
• Identify market opportunities, originate new client relationships and convert them into revenue.
• Lead major bids, proposals and pricing strategies, ensuring competitive positioning.
• Oversee thought‑leadership and marketing campaigns to enhance the practice’s profile.
• Manage and mentor a team of four BD professionals.
• Collaborate with international offices on cross‑border growth initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven BD experience at manager or senior‑manager level within legal or professional services.
• Strong track record in bids, client development and strategic planning.
• Commercially astute with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Leadership mindset with hands‑on delivery focus.
• Experience in Intellectual Property, preferably with exposure to regulatory and disputes work.
