Senior Buyer – Heat Exchangers, Tanks & Accessories

About the role

Rolls‑Royce SMR is seeking a Senior Buyer to lead sourcing and commercial activity for heat exchangers, tanks and related accessories. You will work across programme, construction, engineering and operations teams to shape requirements, influence early decisions and build a resilient supply chain for our Small Modular Reactor projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies aligned with cost, schedule and quality targets.
• Lead end‑to‑end procurement activities including pre‑qualification, RFx, tender evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
• Build and manage a scalable supply base for siteworks, infrastructure and operational services.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to influence design and delivery decisions.
• Provide commercial insight, translate technical and market data into recommendations.
• Ensure governance, compliance and documentation standards are met.
• Monitor supplier performance, identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
• Support the evolution of procurement processes and tools as the function grows.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement within infrastructure, construction or regulated industries.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering competitive tenders and negotiating agreements.
• Experience in safety‑critical sectors such as energy, nuclear, aerospace or defence.
• Ability to work across technical and commercial interfaces.
• MCIPS qualification (or working towards it) is desirable.

• Salary £44,600 – £55,150 per year, plus up to 12.5% performance bonus.
