Senior Buyer – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support large‑scale infrastructure and engineering projects in Birmingham. You will own procurement activities across live projects, ensuring materials, suppliers and commercial agreements are managed efficiently to drive successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement activities across multiple infrastructure projects.
• Source cost‑effective materials and services.
• Negotiate pricing schedules, commercial terms and supplier agreements.
• Maintain supplier relationships and monitor supply‑chain performance.
• Support project teams with procurement planning and delivery.
• Ensure procurement processes and governance procedures are followed.
• Handle purchasing documentation, approvals and contractual changes.
• Communicate delivery risks, delays and supply‑chain issues proactively.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and report commercial benefits.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned across projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a buyer in a similar role.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and contract law.
• Experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP Business One.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach.
• Flexibility to work in project‑driven environments.
• CIPS Level 4 qualification (preferred).
