Senior Buyer

About the role

Cedar is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support large‑scale infrastructure projects in Birmingham. You will own procurement activities across live projects, ensuring that materials, suppliers and commercial agreements are managed efficiently to drive project success.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement for multiple infrastructure projects, from sourcing to delivery.
• Source cost‑effective materials and services while negotiating pricing, commercial terms and supplier agreements.
• Maintain supplier relationships, monitor supply‑chain performance and address any risks or delays.
• Support project teams with procurement planning, documentation, approvals and purchase‑order updates.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and report commercial benefits.
• Ensure compliance with procurement processes, governance and contractual requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a buyer in a similar, project‑driven environment.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and basic contract law.
• Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and analytical abilities.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach with the ability to work flexibly.
• CIPS Level 4 qualification is preferred.
