Senior Buyer – M&E/MEP – Rail & Infrastructure

About the role

This senior buyer position supports high‑value rail and infrastructure programmes for a specialist subcontractor delivering to Tier 1 clients. You will own the procurement of mechanical and electrical packages, ensuring the right materials, subcontractors and suppliers are in place to meet demanding programme and commercial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end procurement of M&E packages across live rail and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
• Negotiate commercial terms to secure best value and manage risk.
• Support delivery teams with procurement strategy, planning and cost control.
• Monitor supply‑chain performance, resolve issues and avoid programme delays.
• Manage variations and keep purchase orders aligned with live project changes.
• Ensure procurement processes are efficient, structured and aligned to project needs.
• Collaborate with Tier 1 contractors and internal stakeholders to maintain alignment.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Buyer within M&E/MEP on rail or infrastructure projects.
• Background working for a subcontractor delivering into Tier 1 contracts.
• Strong supplier network across M&E and infrastructure supply chains.
• Commercially astute with excellent negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple packages and competing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach with a focus on delivery.
