Senior Buyer – Purchasing Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Buyer to lead the purchasing function for a leading supplier of electrical and mechanical workshop equipment. Reporting directly to the Directors, you will manage a team of buyers and oversee sourcing of a wide range of finished goods, primarily from China, the Far East and the EU.

Key responsibilities

• Select new products for wholesale and retail trade and set trade/retail pricing.
• Approve all stock purchase orders, pricing and ensure full stock availability.
• Identify product ranges to enhance the offering and work with buying, test and marketing teams to meet launch timelines.
• Schedule product testing, evaluate quality control reports and warranty data, and decide on product continuance or deletion.
• Manage the flow of new products from import through engineering, private‑label development and marketing.
• Monitor retail market trends to keep products competitive.
• Select inbound shipping agencies and oversee logistics for new imports.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of procurement and management experience, preferably in power‑tools or similar sectors.
• Proven track record of leading buyer teams and handling direct imports from the Far East.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a decisive, can‑do attitude.
• Strong financial acumen to influence purchasing decisions and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
