Senior Buyer – Siteworks & Operations

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Buyer to lead sourcing and commercial activities for site‑based services, infrastructure and operational support within Rolls‑Royce SMR’s Small Modular Reactor programme. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will work closely with programme, construction, engineering and operations teams to build a resilient supply chain that enables site readiness and safe, efficient delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing and category strategies aligned with cost, schedule and quality targets.
• Lead end‑to‑end procurement processes including pre‑qualification, RFx, tender evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
• Build and manage a scalable supplier base for siteworks, infrastructure and operational services.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to shape requirements and influence early‑stage design decisions.
• Provide commercial insight, translating technical and market data into robust recommendations.
• Ensure governance, compliance and documentation standards across all procurement activities.
• Monitor supplier performance, identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
• Support the evolution of procurement tools, processes and ways of working as the function grows.

Required profile

• Proven procurement experience in siteworks, operations, infrastructure or construction environments.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering competitive tenders and negotiating supplier agreements.
• Background in regulated or safety‑critical sectors such as energy, nuclear, infrastructure, aerospace or defence.
• Ability to work across technical and commercial interfaces, balancing cost, programme and supply‑chain considerations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Required skills

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• MCIPS certification (or working towards it) – desirable.
