Senior C++ Engineer – Contract (Remote, UK)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior C++ Engineer to join a globally recognised technology business supporting a leading online gaming platform. The role is fully remote within the UK and focuses on modernising a large, business‑critical C++ codebase while contributing to a major cloud migration programme.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑quality C++ within an established production codebase.
• Migrate core platform components from Windows to Linux.
• Refactor and modernise legacy C++ modules while preserving stability.
• Build and enhance low‑latency, server‑side systems for a live gaming platform.
• Integrate platform services with AWS as part of the cloud migration.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude to boost productivity.
• Collaborate with engineering, cloud specialists and stakeholders to deliver solutions and communicate progress.
• Identify technical risks early and propose incremental improvements.

Required profile

• Expert‑level modern C++ development with recent commercial experience.
• Proven experience developing on both Windows and Linux environments.
• Demonstrated ability to modernise large, legacy C++ platforms.
• Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, memory management and performance optimisation.
• Experience with server‑side development, TCP networking and CI/CD pipelines.
