Senior Care Assistant – Day & Night Shifts

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join Vera James House in Ely. You will work day or night shifts, supporting residents to live independently and with dignity while delivering person‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities and personal care.
• Administer and record medication in line with company procedures.
• Supervise, mentor and support Care Assistants on the shift.
• Develop, review and update individual care plans.
• Provide emotional support and promote wellbeing.
• Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals and the wider care team.
• Support residents receiving end‑of‑life care.
• Maintain accurate care records and documentation.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a residential care setting.
• Warm, friendly demeanor with a genuine smile.
• Excellent listening skills and ability to engage with residents’ stories.
• Quick thinking and adaptability to changing needs.
• Patience, compassion and a sense of humour.
