Senior Care Assistant

About the role

The Senior Care Assistant will lead a small team in delivering safe, person‑centred care to frail‑elderly residents at Birdston Care Home. You will ensure that each shift runs smoothly, with high standards of care, medication oversight and wellbeing monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and support care assistants to provide high‑quality, person‑centred care.
• Oversee medication administration and maintain accurate medication records.
• Monitor residents’ health, respond to changes, and ensure safe, appropriate care.
• Maintain detailed care documentation and handover notes.
• Communicate effectively with families, healthcare professionals and senior management.

Required profile

• Minimum SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (Level 3 desirable) or willingness to work towards it.
• Medication administration training with competency.
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Caring, compassionate and professional attitude.
