Senior Care Worker – Residential Children’s Home

About the role

We are looking for a caring and resilient Senior Care Worker to join a newly registered 4‑bed residential children’s home in Welling. You will support young people aged 7‑17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties, helping them develop life skills in a therapeutic, trauma‑informed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality care in line with individual care and placement plans.
• Build trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
• Support daily routines, including education, leisure, health, and independent living skills.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, and consistent home environment.
• Encourage positive behaviour using therapeutic approaches such as PACE.
• Complete risk assessments, incident reports, and care documentation.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for each young person.
• Participate in on‑call and sleep‑in rotas, responding to emergencies as needed.

Required profile

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve within 2 years).
• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a residential or social‑care setting.
• Understanding of safeguarding, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and trauma‑informed approaches.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations.
• Good communication, teamwork, and record‑keeping skills.
• Genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Required skills

• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and regulations.
• Familiarity with therapeutic approaches such as PACE.
• Ability to complete risk assessments and incident reporting.
