Senior Category Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Category Manager to lead our Cartons, Boxes and Postal Packaging portfolio. You will act as the product expert, collaborating with sales, marketing, purchasing and key suppliers to drive growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Own strategically important product categories and deliver revenue and margin targets.
• Develop and execute category strategies to maximise sales, profitability and long‑term growth.
• Manage the full product lifecycle, including range optimisation, new product introductions and rationalisation.
• Identify market trends, customer needs and innovation opportunities to keep the portfolio competitive.
• Build and maintain strong strategic supplier relationships, negotiating commercial agreements that add value and support sustainability.
• Ensure sourcing from the right suppliers at the right quality, cost and service levels, leveraging group purchasing where appropriate.
• Support sales teams with quotations, tenders and technical product expertise.
• Collaborate with marketing on product propositions, catalogue content, website information and promotional campaigns.
• Maintain accurate product specifications and sustainability documentation in ERP and product information systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior category management within the packaging sector.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering sales and margin performance.
• Ability to develop and implement strategic category plans.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts.
• Excellent understanding of product lifecycle management.
